“Sexual Impotence”, a term popularly adopted for “Erectile Sexual Dysfunction” or “DSE”, is characterized by the permanent inability to obtain or maintain an erection suitable for good sexual practice. The man who sporadically presents this type of problem does not meet the criteria to be identified as having this condition. In the Tadalafil intermediate manufacturer factory this is important.

Incidence Of The Problem

“Sexual impotence” is more and more frequent, and the greater the age group studied, the greater its incidence. It is believed that in Brazil, about half of men over 40 have some complaints related to the quality of their erections.

The Mechanism Of A Normal Erection

The penile erection usually occurs in response to sexual stimulation. These sexual stimuli can be varied, from visual, tactile or auditory, to those related to the memory or fantasy of certain situations. These stimuli are perceived by the central nervous system, which promotes the dilation of the arteries that carry blood to the corpora cavernosa.

The corpora cavernosa are two cylinders filled with trabecular muscle tissue, similar to a sponge that fills the inside of the penis. This tissue also relaxes during sexual stimulation, and when flooded by a large amount of blood it becomes rigid, causing the erection itself. When stimuli cease or immediately after ejaculation, this mechanism is reversed: the arteries that carry blood to the penis decrease in diameter and the tissue of the corpora cavernosa contracts. The blood ceases to occupy the corpora cavernosa and the penis becomes flaccid again. In the Tadalafil manufacturer factory this is important.

What Can Compromise Man’s Erection Capacity?

Sexual impotence can have several origins or causes, whether physical or psychological. In fact, it is not uncommon to see a combination of both causing the problem.

“Physical” Causes

Aging:  The aging process is global, affecting all organs and systems of the human body. The nerves (responsible for the conduction of stimuli), the blood vessels (responsible for filling the penis) and the tissue of the corpora cavernosa also suffer the consequences of the passage of time, with their functions being compromised.

Diabetes Mellitus:  It is certainly one of the great villains, as it can cause damage to nerves (diabetic neuropathy) and also to blood vessels (diabetic vasculopathy). It is believed that in men with type I (insulin-dependent) diabetes mellitus, the incidence of some degree of erectile sexual impotence throughout life can approach 90%!

Smoking:  Smoking causes damage to the nerves and blood vessels, in addition to accelerating the aging process of the penile tissue. The longer the time and quantity of cigarettes consumed per day, the greater the potential and severity of the problem. Unfortunately, this damage can be irreversible.

Arterial Hypertension:  As in smoking, uncontrolled arterial hypertension can cause damage to blood vessels (atherosclerosis), in addition to accelerating the aging process of the penile tissue.

Hormonal Deficiency:  Low testosterone can contribute to decreased libido and also the quality of erections.

Neurological Diseases:  Degenerative diseases such as multiple sclerosis and spinal cord injury can cause sexual impotence. Chronic neuropathy due to alcoholism is also a risk factor.
